The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program gives women and their children food packages, nutritional information and free health screenings.

Keeping Mothers and Children Healthy

WIC’s mission is to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, and referrals to healthcare.

WIC serves pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women; infants; and children (up to age 5); who meet income guidelines and medical or nutritional risk.

The WIC Program provides:

  • Personalized nutrition counseling
  • Provides nutritious foods
  • Referrals for other services that can benefit the family
  • Provides breastfeeding support

For breastfeeding mothers:

WIC provides breastfeeding education and assistance. Lactation assistance is available with our Breastfeeding Peer Counselor or Registered Nurse. We also offer a breastfeeding support group from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM on Mondays in the Jones Conference Room at CareArc.

Prenatal breastfeeding and cooking classes are also available.
