The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program gives women and their children food packages, nutritional information and free health screenings.
Schedule an AppointmentWIC’s mission is to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, and referrals to healthcare.
WIC serves pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women; infants; and children (up to age 5); who meet income guidelines and medical or nutritional risk.
For breastfeeding mothers:
WIC also provides breastfeeding education and assistance. Lactation assistance is available with a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor or registered nurse. We also offer a breastfeeding support group from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Mondays in the Jones Conference Room at the Emporia Health Center.
Prenatal breastfeeding and cooking classes are also available.
